6 Characters from Luffy's Era Who Could Defeat Rocks D. Xebec in One Piece!

In his time, Rocks D. Xebec was the shadow ruler of the One Piece world—a man so powerful that he made the World Government tremble.

Dubbed the most dangerous pirate of his era, it took a combined effort from two legends, Gol D. Roger and Monkey D. Garp, to bring him down during the legendary God Valley incident.

But imagine if Rocks returned in Luffy’s era, a time when strength, determination, and technology have evolved immensely. Who would be strong enough to face him?

Here are six characters from Luffy’s era who I believe could defeat Rocks D. Xebec!

1. Imu

Yes, you read that right... Imu is no newcomer to the One Piece world. This mysterious figure has existed since the time of Rocks D. Xebec. Interestingly, Xebec once confronted Imu… only to walk away.

Instead of launching an attack or asserting dominance, Rocks left with a promise—that one day he would return.

This seems to be a silent admission that even he, with ambitions to shake the world, wasn’t yet strong enough to face the true sovereign of the world.

If they clashed again in Luffy’s era, the result might not be much different. Imu remains the greatest mystery, and perhaps the most untouchable enemy, even for someone like Xebec.

2. Dracule Mihawk

There’s no confirmed evidence that Rocks D. Xebec was a Devil Fruit user.

But one thing is clear: he was a fearsome swordsman with extremely powerful Haki. His sword slashes were said to rival the destructive force of a giant war hammer—even cannons.

Such a fearsome blade would make him an ideal rival for Dracule Mihawk, the strongest swordsman in Luffy’s era.

Unfortunately, Xebec fell before Mihawk ever rose to prominence. But if they were to duel, it would likely be one of the most iconic sword battles in One Piece history.

Given Mihawk’s calm demeanor and hunger for worthy opponents, I’m confident he’d savor every swing of his blade against a monster like Xebec.

3. Shanks

Shanks is often viewed as the spiritual successor to Gol D. Roger—not just because of the Straw Hat, but due to his fighting style and life philosophy. He has even mastered Roger’s legendary move: Divine Departure!

If Rocks D. Xebec returned during Luffy’s time, Shanks would be one of the most worthy challengers.

His Haoshoku Haki isn’t just strong—it’s terrifying. He can weaken or incapacitate foes simply by being near them. Even with one arm, Shanks stands tall among the Four Emperors, possibly surpassing Roger in some aspects.

A clash between Shanks and Xebec would be more than a fight—it would be a battle of two legacies: brutal chaos vs. the will of freedom.

4. Marshall D. Teach (Blackbeard)

This battle would be the greatest irony in the history of the D. clan: a son versus his father, an heir to chaos versus its original architect.

Marshall D. Teach, believed to be the son of Rocks D. Xebec, might be the only person who could defeat Rocks using Rocks’ own methods.

Blackbeard isn’t just powerful—he’s calculating and ruthless, striking only when the moment is perfect. Many of his enemies fell victim to his traps, never realizing his true intentions until it was too late.

With two deadly Devil Fruits—the Yami Yami no Mi, which can nullify all powers, and the Gura Gura no Mi, which can destroy the world—Blackbeard has already surpassed limits that even Rocks may not have reached in his prime.

And if they were to face off, don’t be surprised if Blackbeard bows before his father… only to betray him at the final moment, just as he’s done to so many before.

5. Monkey D. Luffy

Let’s not forget our main character: Monkey D. Luffy! He’s not just carrying on Roger’s will—he might surpass the Pirate King himself.

Beyond his natural talent for mastering all three types of Haki, Luffy has awakened the legendary power of the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika—a power so feared that the World Government didn’t even want it to exist.

Rocks may have been a brutal swordsman with terrifying Haki, but Luffy has already defeated Kaido, the strongest creature alive, and even pushed Admiral Kizaru to his limits.

As always, Luffy might struggle at first. But with his rapidly evolving power and unbreakable spirit of freedom, I believe that if anyone can end Xebec’s twisted dream, it’s Luffy.

6. Sakazuki (Akainu)

From the Marine side, Sakazuki, also known as Akainu, is likely the strongest contender to challenge Rocks D. Xebec.

His Magu Magu no Mi is one of the most destructive abilities in the series—his attacks leave lasting damage, both physical and emotional. Just look at the death of Portgas D. Ace.

When it comes to pure destructive force, Akainu’s magma power might rival any other ability in One Piece.

Some fans theorize that one of the admirals killed by Rocks in the past had a personal connection to Sakazuki. If true, that might explain Akainu’s deep hatred for pirates and provide a personal reason to go all-out against Xebec.

And if they were to clash, you can bet Akainu would fight with everything he’s got—no mercy, no holding back.

So, those are six characters from Luffy’s era who could potentially defeat Rocks D. Xebec in One Piece.
