Don't be surprised when you visit a bookstore, you see a grown man buying a manga comic called One Piece. This work is too valuable if it is only considered as a reading or anime for children and teenagers.

One Piece was first published in 1997 and 23 years later it is still one of the most popular manga worldwide. The majority of teenagers who read One Piece two decades ago, are still loyal to him when he is the head of the family.

One Piece is a story about the adventures of pirates around the world. Monkey D. Luffy is the main character as well as the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates. The Straw Hats group consists of Roronoa Zoro, Nami, Usopp, Sanji, Chopper, Nico Robin, Franky, Brook, and Jinbe. Luffy wants to sail to realize his dream of finding One Piece and becoming a Pirate.

At the beginning of the story, the previous Pirate King, Gol D. Roger, did say that he had collected all the valuable treasures he had gotten somewhere. He called on the people to go to the sea and look for him.

One Piece takes Luffy and his friends' adventures from island to island. However, the story does not necessarily become monotonous as the fight between the Straw Hat Group and its enemies. One Piece has expanded beyond those limits.

The problems presented by One Piece are much more complicated, so readers who continue to grow and develop with this comic never let go and leave it. The narrative seems to develop more complex following the age of the fans in the first generation. Because of this, old fans will be loyal and new fans keep popping up and arriving.

In the One Piece story, the figure of the Straw Hat Pirates is never described as a true hero. Luffy and his friends still hold to principles that are common among pirates such as breaking the rules and preferring to hunt for treasure like when they stole gold on Sky Island.

The problem is not depicted in black and white with a firm dividing line. All like gray. The majority of Pirates in One Piece are synonymous with the desire to seize power to find the treasures of the legendary pirate Gol D. Roger. Meanwhile, Luffy and his friends interpret pirates as a group that is free to roam the ocean without being constrained by regulations.

The Navy figure in One Piece is not always a defender of the truth, but also a party who often abuses power.

There is a type of Navy that adheres to absolute justice and only cares about the goals that must be achieved, no matter how it is done, including when it comes to killing civilians. Admiral Akainu belongs to this group.

There are also types who have more instincts to digest the situation and weigh justice based on the circumstances on the ground. Smoker falls into this category because he has released Luffy and his friends several times when he has the opportunity to catch him, including in Arabasta.

The chapters of One Piece are also not only about showing off their strength and fighting through the abilities of devil fruits. For many fans, it is precisely the storyline of each series that is more interesting than just a brawl or exchanging punches.

Many things seem to be related to real-world situations in the stories. One example is the story of a country that tries to face the threat of a coup and a country that has fallen into a coup without other countries realizing it. There is also the story of the lost island.

The plot is also not only about the Straw Hat Group who come, fight, and then win. There are stories that are mixed together by complex plots such as when Luffy faces Big Mom. In the story there are two betrayals that then make the story interesting and full of surprises.

The antagonists are also shown with complex backgrounds. For example, Big Mom who actually has the dream of uniting all races in the world living together in her Totto Land.

One Piece also raises themes that are relevant to the current situation, for example related to racism. This is told through Fishman which is one of the symbols of racism in the world.

Fish humans have been living on the seabed and continue to have dreams of being able to go to the land and live with other humans.

There is also a theme about superpowers in the world. In the One Piece universe, the figure is the Celestial Dragons who are considered the creators of the world and have the right to everything they want.

One Piece has been running for 24 years, but for fans who are just interested in reading, it certainly won't take long to catch up and finish reading almost 100 volumes of manga.
