In One Piece, it is rare for people to be killed or die due to fighting or the like. Even so, that doesn't mean there are no characters who die.
Usually death is shown in the past of a character or character and some of these deaths make some OPlovers cry bitterly (mimin not crying yes :D).

1. Death of Bell-Mere

Bell-Mere is the adoptive mother of Nojiko and Nami. Bell-mere is a former mariner who works as an orange farmer.
In the anime version, Bell-Mere died because Arlong shot her right in the chest. While in the manga version Bell-Mere died shot by Arlong right in the head.
Bell-Mere's death is certainly very heartbreaking considering Bell-Mere is the person his village relies on, especially for Nami and Nojiko.
2. Ace's death

Ace's death is one of the most heartbreaking deaths ever. In fact, almost all One Piece Fans did not expect that Ace would die at Marine Ford.
The dramatic scene, made some OPlovers certainly cry, especially Ace's words before his death "Thank you for loving a useless person like me" made OPlovers really sad.
3. Fisher Tiger Death

First introduced during the flashback of Boa Hancock being freed from Mariejoa. Fisher Tiger is a race of fishmen who founded the Sun Pirates.
While rescuing Koala (a member of the revolutionary army) who was a child and slave back to his hometown, Tiger was reported by the local people to the navy.
Inevitably, Tiger was forced to fight with the navy and was injured. In the end, Tiger died on the navy ship they stole.
Fisher Tiger hated humans but he didn't hurt them. Even before his death he told his crew not to hurt humans even though he hated them.
4. Shirohige's Death

Just like Ace, no one expected Shirohige to die in Marine Ford. Especially as the strongest man in the One Piece universe, of course Fans expect a lot from Shirohige even though the reality is different.
Shirohige did die gallantly, but what was heartbreaking was that Shirohige had to die at the hands of Blackbeard, the crew who he considered his own son/family.
In addition, before dying, the Squad who was her crew betrayed Shirohige by stabbing her body. The decline in Shirohige's strength may also be due to Squad's stabbing.
5. Death of Rosinante

Rosinante is a naval mariner who infiltrated the Doflamingo pirate group. Although Rosinante was actually Doflamingo's younger brother, Rosinante sided more with the navy.
What is heartbreaking about Rosinante's death is that she died at the hands of her own biological brother, Doflamingo. Even so, Rosinante's death is arguably the most epic death in One Piece. Rosinante died because she saved Law from Doflamingo and from Law's illness.
Actually there are several other heartbreaking deaths such as Scarlet's death or the death of Queen Otohime but not included.
